DESCRIPTION: Alsons Power Holdings is an investment company affiliated with the Alcantara Group which is also used as an umbrella name for the power business concerns of the Group. The Groups power generation facilities are mainly focused on the island of Mindanao where these plants play a key role in providing electricity to fuel Mindanaos growing population and expanding economy. The currently operating power generation facilities of Alsons Power include the Western Mindanao Power Corporation (WMPC) 100 Mega Watt (MW) diesel-fired power plant in Sangali, Zamboanga City; that commenced operations in 1997, and the Southern Philippines Power Corporation (SPPC) 55 MW diesel-fired power plant in Alabel, Sarangani Province; that began operating in 1998. Both plants supply power to the Mindanao grid under an 18 year Energy Conversion Agreement (ECA) with the National Power Corporation (NPC). | |
