DESCRIPTION: Due to the success of Forrest Gump, the movie in 1994, Viacom Consumer Products (part of Viacom, which also owns Paramount Pictures) approached Rusty Pelican Company to build a chain of family-style casual dining restaurants carrying the theme of the movie. The first Bubba Gump was opened in Cannery Row in Monterey, California and became the first themed restaurant inspired by a film. There are now 30 restaurants worldwide; 11 of which are outside of the United States. Bubba Gump Shrimp Company started in May 2004 and is owned and operated by Shrimpworks Company Inc. with a store located at Level 2, Greenbelt 3, Ayala Center, Makati City. | |
