DESCRIPTION: International Deaf Education Association Phil., (IDEA Phil.) Inc., is a non-profit charitable organization with a mission of helping deaf individuals achieve self-reliance and empowering them to become productive members of society throught the various programs and services offered. The unique programs seek to eradicate illiteracy among the deaf through educational assistance, provide vocational and training opportunities, teach socialization and independent living skills, & open opportunities for spiritual growth. In collaboration with the Christian Blind Mission and the Dept. of Education, IDEA Phil. also developed a Deafness Prevention Program in Bohol where teachers, students & parents are trained to detect & prevent hearing loss. Hearing aids and treatment are also provided. IDEA Phil. has been working with volunteers from all over the world who come to give medical, dental or technical assistance, or to share their skills such as cooking, baking, carpentry & construction. | |
