DESCRIPTION: The first three letters of the Active Group of Companies, ACT, represents not only the initials of the founders but also indicates the dynamism of their management style. The Active Group began as a partnership between the husband and wife team of Arch. Antonio A. Turalba Sr. and Arch. Maria Cristina Valera-Turalba when they set-up Turalba and Associates, an architectural design firm in 1970. The company's founders did not start off as enterpreneurs in their own right although Mr. Turalba's parents were tabacco traders and it was in actual trading transactions accompanying his father as a young boy that he learned not only the tabacco business, but the value of money as well. Mrs. Turalba came from from a family of engineers, architects, doctors and lawyers-who had their own practices.
