DESCRIPTION: The Camp Fernwood family is known for its warm atmosphere and concern for each child. Campers and staff from all over the world live for 7 1/2 weeks in our beautiful, rustic setting bordered by the sandy white shore of Lake Thompson and 100 acres of meadows and woods. Established in 1921, Camp Fernwood is a traditional summer camp for girls offering a wide range of activities and encouraging a balance between the active and the creative. Maine is the ideal setting for out of camp adventures and each week our girls mountain climb, flat and white water canoe, rock climb, sail, camp and sightsee in northern New England. Our staff includes a Nurse Practitioner and 3 Registered Nurses. A well equipped infirmary is on camp grounds and full hospital facilities are available in nearby Lewiston, Maine.
