DESCRIPTION: The City of Monroe lies 17 miles east of Everett on Highway 2 and 10 miles northeast of Bothell/Woodinville on Highway 522. With a diverse population of 15,480 the city has become the center of trade, business and professional services for East Snohomish County. Valley General Hospital is located in the city and provides complete emergency, outpatient treatment, surgical and maternity facilities. Monroe is the home of the Evergreen State Fair, the largest county fair in the state. The fairgrounds are open year-round to provide a variety of events. The equestrian park at the fairgrounds is one of the finest facilities in the West with events scheduled all year. The City is located in a river valley and surrounded by forested open space. Our main parks and public places are beautifully maintained. Access to fishing, white-water rafting, and other water sports, hiking, skiing, climbing, and camping opportunities is only minutes away. | |
