DESCRIPTION: The Young Winners Leadership Training Program (YWLTP) has taken this vision, and has implemented a program that provides guidance in areas of dating, friendship, marriage and family, STD/HIV, character building, and decision-making in order to promote abstinence. The goal of YWLTP is to provide abstinence based education within San Antonio, Texas to those most at risk for problems related to teen sex in order to reduce teen pregnancies, STD, and HIV rates. In 1998 the Southwest Winners Foundation, Inc. was awarded a Title V Grant by the Texas Department of Health thus creating YWLTP. Working with a variety of area High Schools and community organizations such as the YMCA and Harlandale and McCollum High School, YWLTP has equipped thousands of students with the tools needed to prepare themselves for healthy relationships and successful futures. | |
