It provides a critical connection between individuals and families in need to the appropriate community-based organizations and government agencies. The phone line is operational 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Callers who dial 2-1-1 can find information on child care, summer youth programs, mentoring programs, job and volunteer opportunities, mental health services, emergency financial assistance, food or shelter and much more. 211 also serves as a clearinghouse for donations of time, goods and services for those who want to help.
