DESCRIPTION: The Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act, S. 2468, introduced yesterday by Sens. Susan Collins (R-Maine) and Tom Carper (D-Del.), requires significant operational, structural and financial reform of the U.S. Postal Service. The proposal was developed after extensive hearings before the Senate Governmental Affairs Committee when Committee members heard from a variety of sectors interested in postal reform. ¿The Collins-Carper bill marks a strong step toward long-term, comprehensive postal reform,¿ said UPS Chairman and CEO Mike Eskew. ¿We are optimistic that Congress can modernize the law governing postal operations for the 21st century. | |
