DESCRIPTION: The Dolores Kohl Education Foundation, established over 30 years ago, was founded to create and operate programs to benefit the education of young children. Presently, the Foundation, in partnership with the McCormick Tribune Foundaiton operates two programs -- The Kohl McCormick StoryBus, a comprehensive, mobile literacy program that travels throughout the Chicago area and the Kohl McCormick Early Childhood Teaching Awards honoring early childhood educators. The StoryBus is a traveling, interactive program, including a colorful 37-foot museum-on-wheels, designed to promote literacy among low-income preschool and kindergarten children. Kohl McCormick Early Childhood Teaching Awards -In 2003 and 2004 the Kohl McCormick Early Childhood Teaching Awards will celebrate its ninth year. The goal of the program is to increase public awareness as to the critical need for high quality early childhood education by honoring outstanding educators working in excellent childcare facilities. | |
