DESCRIPTION: Educating Children for Parenting,Inc. (ECP), headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is a national non-profit organization dedicated to teaching children and youth about responsible parenthood. ECP is a 25-year-old program that uses the examination of the parent-child relationship to engage young people in a process that leads to an understanding of their responsibility to be caring individuals today and nuturing adults tomorrow. When young people understand the dynamics of interpersonal relationships, they are less likeky to react to each other in violent ways or to bully and tease one another. Three independent evaluations of the ECP program have reported that it creates these outcomes by encouraging students to choose non-violent, empathetic solutions to conflict. At schools using ECP's parenting education program, teachers report a reduction in aggressive behavior among students. | |
