DESCRIPTION: The Kansas City Teaching Fellows is a movement drawing our most accomplished citizens to teach in our most challenged classrooms. The program will select 100 of the most outstanding professionals and graduates, from all backgrounds, to improve the education of students in our urban schools. No previous education coursework is required. What is required is a strong commitment that Kansas City's students fulfill their true potential. We are seeking candidates from all professional and academic backgrounds. We are making a particular effort to recruit Latino/a and Aftrican American candidates, bilingual Spanish speakers, and individuals with a math, science, technology or engineering degree. The program includes a regular teaching salary with benefits, intensive summer training, and a program of on-going support. In addition to their full-time teaching, Fellows will enroll and complete a tailored, accelerated certification program. | |
