DESCRIPTION: Eckerd Youth Alternatives is a private not-for-profit organization that serves at-risk youth through 39 residential and community-based programs in 7 states. We are most recognized for our highly successful therapeutic wilderness education system, but we also provide early intervention and prevention curriculum in elementary schools, as well as specialized residential and day treatment and aftercare/Re-Entry programs. Our programs are rooted in the belief that every child deserves an opportunity to succeed. We promote the well being of children and families in nurturing, caring environments. We provide behavioral therapy through educational and social activities that support one-on-one and group discussions. Through caring relationships, our children learn to set and achieve goals, to solve problems, and to take responsibility for their actions and the natural consequences of their behavior. | |
