DESCRIPTION: The Skoll Foundation was created by Jeff Skoll, first employee and president of eBay, in late 1999. Our mission is ¿to empower those with the greatest potential to make lasting positive contributions to their communities and the world. ¿ We accomplish this by backing, connecting and celebrating social entrepreneurs who help people realize their potential to improve their lives and their communities. Our emphasis is on populations who but for want of resources or encouragement have the ability to succeed. We award competitive grants to nonprofit organizations with a proven track record, and we look for high-leverage opportunities where our support can have a meaningful impact.
