DESCRIPTION: Work America, a nonprofit corporation located in Miami, Fl, that delivers a number of services that enhance the economic and educational opportunities of residents of the Miami area. The Rosa Parks Charter Schools were founded in 1999 by Herbert J. Coleman with the goal of implementing a different kind of education opportunity for inner city resident, beginning with early childhood education. Rosa Parks Charter School has two locations; in Florida City, Florida and in Miami¿s Overtown district. At Rosa Parks the educational process differs from the traditional educational system in tat it shifts the focus from mere training, to exposing students to real world situations and helping them make connections between their studies and everyday life situations. This is done to create in our students and understanding of the relationship between education and economics. In the end, Rosa Parks Charter School focuses on educating entrepreneurs within and for inner cities. | |
