DESCRIPTION: Lake-Sumter EMS is a not for profit corporation formed by Lake and Sumter counties to provide EMS services. We have been in operation since October of 2000. Currently, we have 57 paramedic, and 51 EMT positions; a number of our Paramedic positions are vacant due to an expansion in operations. Lake-Sumter EMS has 18 stations located throughout Lake and Sumter Counties. Our administrative offices and communications center are in Mount Dora, which is near Leesburg. Most of our medic positions are 24 on 48 off, but we have some 14 and 12-hour positions to cover peak periods. About 70% of our calls are ALS Medical; 13% are BLS Trauma; 11% are BLS Medical; and, about 6% are ALS trauma. | |
