DESCRIPTION: The Gilroy Unified School District is located at the southern tip of Santa Clara County. There are 9,000 students attending fourteen schools. The nine elementary schools and two middle schools have 6,985 students while the District's one comprehensive high school, continuation high school, and Community Day School serve a total of 2,531 students. Fifty students are enrolled in independent study programs. (Source: CBEDS-October,2000) The Gilroy Unified School District is pleased to be a partner with the University of California at Santa Cruz in their New Teacher Project. Participation in BTSA provides beginning teachers with the best possible program of support and professional growth. The primary goal of BTSA is to provide individual support and assessment that create a continuum of support from preservice through the first two years of teaching and beyond. This assistance is focused on instructional skills, classroom, management, and knowledge of subject area. | |
