DESCRIPTION: The Harbor-UCLA Research and Education Institute (REI), is a nonprofit corporation, located on the ground of, and affiliated with, the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance. REI administers approximately 600 research and education grants and contracts covering a board range of biomedical subjects. REI employs nearly 1,000 persons, including MD's, PhD's research nurses, laboratory technicians, and others. More than 600 community physicians are duespaying members of REI and many volunteer as members of the Board of Directors and committees. In addition, REI receives many grants and contracts from voluntary health organizations, pharmaceutical and healthcare-related industries, and private foundations, as well as contributions from corporation and individuals. | |
