DESCRIPTION: We are the largest non-urban provider of general hospital healthcare services in the United States in terms of number of acute care facilities. As of August 1, 2004 we owned 74 hospitals, geographically diversified across 22 states, with an aggregate of 8,123 licensed beds. In 85% of our markets, we are the sole provider of general hospital healthcare services. In most of our other markets, we are one of two providers of these services. For the fiscal year that ended December 31, 2003, we generated $2.8 billion in revenues. We implement new programs to improve the quality of care provided. These include training programs, sharing of best practices, assistance in complying with regulatory requirements, standardized accreditation documentation, and patient, physician, and staff satisfaction surveys. | |
