DESCRIPTION:
The United States Department of Education awarded University of Phoenix a Transition To Teaching grant in October 2002. This grant focuses on recruiting and retaining teachers in high need areas. Project "REACH," is a national collaboration between the University of Phoenix's Online, on ground campuses and high need schools/districts in AZ,NV,HI, and Am. Samoa. The primary objective of the funds is to provide support for MAED degrees in Elementary, Secondary and Special Education. Recipients will receive a $5,000 tuition stipend, toward their tuition in a teacher education program. In turn they will commit to teach 3 years in a particular high needs school or district.
