DESCRIPTION: The East Bay Conservation Corps (EBCC) is dedicated to promoting youth development through environmental stewardship and community service, and has been on the forefront of national service-learning programs and curriculum development for many years. Our mission is rooted in the fundamental belief that an educated citizenry is the cornerstone of a healthy democracy. Students who learn academic knowledge and also discover their potential for changing the world become capable, caring citizens. Through school- and community-based programs, we prepare youth for democratic participation by improving their academic skills and knowledge; increasing their sense of civic and environmental responsibility; fostering their sense of caring toward others; and building their capacity to improve their own lives. | |
