DESCRIPTION: J.D. Barnes Limited founded in 1960 by John Duncan Barnes, an industrious and entrepreneurial surveyor. During the company's formative years, it specialized in legal and engineering surveys which were provided mainly to utility companies, land developers, government organizations and private individuals. The firm expanded in 1972 with the establishment of a photogrammetric mapping operation and again in 1974 with the acquisition of ProConsul Limited, a computer application service company. J.D. Barnes Limited has been in the forefront of technology in the Canadian surveying and mapping industry and has maintained a technological awareness to this date. The firm presently employs professional surveyors, engineers, technologists and technicians, systems analysts and programmers as well as support staff.
